This course introduces caregivers to the fundamentals of safe feeding assistance. Caregivers will learn how to prepare the client and environment before meals, apply hygiene practices, and follow diet texture and seating instructions from the care plan. Training includes levels of feeding assistance, adaptive devices that promote independence, and strategies for managing swallowing challenges. Caregivers will also practice safe pacing, documentation, cleanup, and communication with supervisors to ensure client safety, dignity, and well-being.
